History:
Lumberjacks on the Mississippi in Cohasset, 1903
Cohasset, the railway village of Bass Brook Township,
received its name from the town of Cohasset on the east coast of Massachusetts.
It is an Indian word, meaning, as noted by Henry Gannett, "fishing promontory,"
"place of pines," or "young pine trees." A post office was established in
1892; the village was incorporated on February 20, 1902; in 1916 the village
of Cohasset and Bass Brook Township were separated; in 1957 residents voted
again to become one governmental unit; in 1975 the merger was dissolved,
with Bass Brook incorporating as a city in 1992 and Cohasset remaining the
post office.

Calvary
Pines Baptist Church is a classic country church -- built
from the pines that were felled when clearing the property. We call
it "The Come as You are Church" because you can come to services
in a suit or jeans, skirt or slacks, whatever you're comfortable
with. We're not here to inspect clothes, but to worship the Lord
and to get closer to Him. |
